Microsoft Word- Customizing Automatic Settings
To turn off automatic bulleted lists:
- Open Microsoft Word
- Under the “Tools” menu, choose “AutoCorrect Options…” (“AutoCorrect” on Macintosh)
- Choose “AutoFormat” from the tabs at the top of the dialog box.
- Uncheck “Automatic bulleted lists.”
- Choose “AutoFormat as you type” from the tabs at the top of the dialog box.
- Uncheck “Automatic bulleted lists” and “Automatic numbered lists.”
- Click “OK.”
To turn off spell-checking as you type (red squiggly lines under words) and grammar-checking as you type (green squiggly lines under words or phrases):
Windows:
- Under the “Tools” menu, choose “Options…”
- Choose “Spelling and Grammar” from the tabs at the top of the dialog box.
- Uncheck “Check spelling as you type” and “Check grammar as you type.”
- Click “OK.”
Macintosh:
- From the “Word” menu, choose “Preferences.”
- Choose “Spelling and Grammar” from the sidebar.
- Uncheck “Check spelling as you type” and “Check grammar as you type.”
- Click "OK."
