Step-by-step guide

  1. Click on the gray Apple in the upper left-hand corner of the screen and open System Preferences

  2. Click on the Language & Region preference pane, in the middle of the top row
  3. Under the Preferred languages panel on the left, click the + button to add new languages

     

  4. To configure keyboard layout or input method options, click the Keyboard Preferences button at the bottom of this pane.
  5. Select your language or input method in the left-hand column and appropriate options will appear in the main window on the right. 

 

The Keyboard and Character Viewers are now enabled with a checkbox in the Keyboard preference pane.
