OnBase - Import and separate a document
OnBase allows you to import a large PDF file and split it apart into separate documents in OnBase. The files in OnBase will become TIF files, which provide more functionality in OnBase. Follow the steps below to accomplish this:
Open OnBase Unity or Thick client
From within your PDF, on the menu, click File > Print
Select the "Hyland Software Virtual Printer" (click image below to enlarge)
Click "Print" and after a moment you will see the following window (click image to enlarge)
Choose a "Document Type Group" and a "Document Type" - leave File Type set to Image File Format
Based on the Document Type, you will be given some keyword fields to complete
Click Upload
You are shown your imported document. On the ribbon menu, click Image > Modify > Document Separation
The document will open in Document Separation mode, showing you all pages of the document
Click and drag a page, or select a number of pages and drag them down until you see a new document form - the example below shows the original document being processed into a total of 5 documents
Keep in mind that each document will retain the original keywords, if you leave them that way. Each newly created document has a button to view and change keywords, and also save the document, as pictured below
Repeat this process for any additional separations you find necessary, remembering to check keywords, saving each document when you're satisfied with the separation.
