Mid-Winter Term Wireless Connectivity Issues

In addition to looking into LDC-specific issues, Carleton's network administrator is currently investigating connectivity issues in various locations around campus.
LDC specific: After upgrades during winter break, there have been some unusual wireless connectivity issues, and we are working with our hardware vendors to find the root cause of the issue. In the meantime, additional testing data is vital.
Mid-term break issue specific: Particularly the weekend of Midterm break, several people in Mudd, Olin and a select few locations across campus had issues connecting to wireless in those locations but connected just fine elsewhere. Some load balancing modifications were made followed by AP code upgrades, and more testing and observation are underway (8 Feb 16)
If anybody calls with connectivity issues in the LDC please make a ticket with the following setup:
- Request Type: Network: Wireless
- Tech: Let it auto-assign to the Network group, or choose Chris Dlugosz
- Request Detail: Gather and include all the information below...
We need to know the following:
- Device(s) experiencing issues
ex: iPhone 5s; Dell laptop - OS of the device
ex: iOS 9.2.1; Windows 7 62-bit - Wireless (WiFi) MAC address (use google to figure out how to get that information)
- Locations (where it doesn't AND where it does work)
ex: LDC 302 does not work, but it works fine in the LDC dining hall.
- Dates and approximate times of issues
ex 1: Tuesday afternoon around the start of 3,5c (so, appx 1:20, give or take 10 min)
ex 2: Monday evening between class and dinner I couldn't connect in Mudd but in Cassat at about 9 I connected fine.
Again, please communicate to the end user that we are already investigating the issue and working with our vendor for a solution but this additional troubleshooting information will be very helpful!
